Things to consider
Frequently asked questions:
Is planning or building regulation approval required?
Possibly - this all depends on the nature of the work. We will advise and guide your through the various processes involved to make it as stress free as possible. Waiting on approval may delay your intended works so it is important to approach you local authority as soon as possible in order to ascertain how long the process may take before building work can commence.
Will we be able to lead a normal life whilst building works are being carried out?
We aim to keep disruption and the impact on you and your family to a minimum, but some works will inevitably mean normal home life may be disturbed. Such instances could include the utilities being disconnected whilst building works are carried out, or we may advise you to make alternative arrangements if major structural works are being undertaken for health and safety reasons.
Is the work complete in one go or in stages?
We always set a deadline for project completion, notify you of the times we will be on site, and work continuously on the project from start to finish.
Are tools and building materials removed from site during and after work has been completed?
Yes. We pride ourselves in maintaining a clean and tidy site throughout the project. All materials are removed from the site and contract cleaners are brought in to leave your home spic and span.
Can I get an estimate by email or phone?
We recommend a site visit in order to supply a formal estimate.
How much will it cost?
Itemised costs are prepared from your brief and plans after undertaking a site visit. Prices are agreed in advance of works being carried out. Most of our building materials come from local suppliers, enabling us to pass on our trade discounts to yourself, providing value for money from start to finish.
Will the costs rise throughout the project?
We never add extra costs without discussing and agreeing any changes with you.
Can I do some of the work myself ?
Yes, we appreciate budgets maybe tight and we can offer guidance to help you cut costs.
Can you work at weekends?
Yes, we are prepared to work at weekends or evenings depending on the type of job.
When can you start?
We can normally start work on a new project within several weeks of receiving your confirmation. If it's an emergency/insurance related, we will prioritise your request and aim to apply remedial works asap.
